Anchored in scripture. Devoted to Christ. Committed to community.
"To seek, teach, and live the gospel of Jesus Christ — making disciples within the Cowichan Valley and beyond, through faithful worship, compassionate service, and the transforming power of God's Word."
At Community Christian Church in Duncan, BC, our mission flows from the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18–20. We believe the Church exists not for itself, but for the world Christ came to save. Every programme, every gathering, and every act of service is shaped by our desire to reflect Jesus faithfully and to welcome every person into His family.
We envision a thriving Cowichan Valley where every person — regardless of background, history, or circumstance — finds genuine belonging, enduring truth, and life-changing transformation through a living relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
We see a congregation that is deeply rooted in the ancient gospel and boldly relevant to the needs of today's community — a church where scripture is taught faithfully, relationships are cultivated intentionally, and the love of Christ is demonstrated tangibly in the streets of Duncan and beyond.
Our vision is to be a church that the city of Duncan is grateful for — known not for its programmes alone, but for the character of its people and the depth of its love.
These six convictions shape everything we do — from Sunday worship to weekday service.
We accept the Bible — and the Bible alone — as our guide for faith and practice. No creed, tradition, or human opinion supersedes the clear teaching of God's Word.
We are committed to the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus — in thought, speech, action, and relationship. Discipleship is not a programme; it is a way of life.
We pursue real, honest, and caring relationships within the congregation — bearing one another's burdens, celebrating victories, and walking through struggles together.
Our worship is offered to God alone — in spirit and in truth. We worship a cappella, as the early church did, allowing unaccompanied voices to unite in praise.
We hold the tension of speaking truth clearly and extending grace generously — just as Jesus did. We neither water down the gospel nor shut the door to those still finding their way.
Faith without works is dead. We serve our neighbours in Duncan and the Cowichan Valley not to earn favour, but because Christ's love compels us to act.
Our mission is not a statement on a wall — it is expressed in the daily and weekly rhythms of our congregation.
Every Sunday we gather to sing, pray, study the scriptures, and share in the Lord's Supper — just as the early church did. Our worship anchors us in Christ and sends us out renewed.
We serve the Cowichan Valley through food drives, community service days, care for the elderly, and supporting families in crisis — putting feet to the love we proclaim.
From Sunday school to adult Bible classes, from home study groups to our midweek gatherings, we are committed to teaching the whole counsel of God's Word to all ages.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."— Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)
